Name: Sophitia Alexandra
nicknames: Sophie
Game/Series: Soul Calibur
Age: 21
Major: Religion
Minor: undecided
mission: to find and destroy the Soul Edge
fighting style: Athenian Style
weaponry: Omega Sword & Elk Shield
family: Nike (mother), Achelous (father), Cassandra (younger sister), Lucius (younger brother)

Personality: Sophitia is a deeply religious and spiritual woman who trusts in her faith above all else. She prefers to be guided by the Gods and Goddesses, instead of acting strictly upon impulse. She is very level headed and calm, and quite patient. Although she is very gentle in her nature, she is not a pushover in any way. She has a fierce determination and a will stronger than most young women from her time. She is a pacifist who only gets cross and upset with others when needed and never likes to fight or see fighting, although she knows that it is sometimes required in order to survive. Her father trained her from a young age to be a capable fighter and she has confidence that she is able to keep herself secure in most situations. Whenever she is confronted by an antagonist in a situation where she is forced to fight, she aims to never kill. She will only disable her enemy, and prefers to force them into a situation where they must accept her help in order to survive. She is the type of person who wants to change those who are seen as impure or evil, instead of casting them aside. While this comes off as annoying to others, Sophitia believes that her path to righteousness is in assisting those who need her the most.

She is a soft spoken young woman who has a brave heart and believes that actions speak louder than words. She speaks her heart kindly and openly, and tries to get others to do the same. When she finds a cause to believe in and act for, Sophitia will devote herself to it entirely. She will defend the cause with her entire heart and use all of her powers to make sure it succeeds. She has a very strict set of morals, although she never sees things simply in black and white. To her there are many shades of good and evil. Just because someone has committed a sin does not mean they are immoral or evil.

A downside to Sophitia's personality is the fact that she is entirely too trusting of others. She believes that there is good in everyone, even when they have done the worst of things. She wouldn't blindly follow someone, but she would put her trust in them until they prove to be untrustworthy. This can lead to her easily being taken advantage of, and getting into trouble. She is also self-sacrificing to the point she hardly worries about her own well being, which causes a good deal of wear and tear on her emotionally and physically.

Background: Sophitia was born and raised in Athens, Greece during the 1500's. Her parents owned and operated their own bakery, and she lived a very comforatable life. Her father insisted that both she and her younger sister Cassandra be trained in the skills of the warrior as well as study in the English language, so that they would always be able to fend for themselves. He didn't want his daughters to fear any man who might want to harm them. Sophitia wasn't fond of fighting, but took well to the lessons given by her father. Her mother, on the other hand, believed that Sophitia should become a temple priestess. And so when she wasn't working at the bakery or training with her father, Sophitia spent her time inside the Shine of Eurydice. There, Sophitia learned about the Gods and Goddesses, and found a special interest in the God Hephaestus. Whenever she needed guidance, she would pray to Hephaestus, and the God of fire and forge would always assist her.

As she grew older, her parents became more busy with work, and Sophitia was left to her own devices. She still willingly worked in the family bakery, and spent a great deal of time inside the Shrine of Eurydice as well. Because of her beauty, she had many marriage proposals, but her father always turned them down. He wanted his daughter to be given to a powerful and wealthy man. Sophitia had no interest in marriage, however. She wanted to remain inside the Shrine and help those who needed assistance. She believed that her path to righteousness was in helping everyone she could, especially those cast aside by society.

Her desires were put aside, however, when she was approached by the God Hephaestus one night in a vision. She was told that a powerful and deadly weapon called the Soul Edge had been forged in a foreign land. Those who had created the weapon planned on using it to conquer all the land, and there would be much pain brought to the world. Sophitia was to be given the Omega sword and shield at the Eurydice Temple, and go to find the Soul Edge in oder to destroy it. She would be required to go to a new, strange land and attend an institute of higher learning. Although she was capable as she was, Sophitia needed to increase her abilities in fighting and learn as much as possible. Sophitia was fearful for her fate, but never questioned her destiny. After giving up her life in Greece and bidding her family goodbye, Sophitia allowed Hephaestus to guide her toward a strange and new land.
